

Meat Orders
Our sheep and cattle are raised chemical and pharmaceutical free on our local South Australian farm, on our beautiful chemical free pastures. We raise Speckle Park beef to approximately two years old for superior flavour and fat distribution. Our cattle are 100% grass fed and finished. You may notice that the meat displayed on our website has quite yellow fat. The yellow fat is due to the beta-carotene found in grass fed meat and has many health benefits. Although we concentrate on breeding Speckle Park beef we do have some other breeds. Please indicate if you only want Speckle Park beef for your order (there may be a longer wait time).
Our sheep are Poll Dorset and Ile de France wool sheep (no shedding breeds) for their superior meat quality. Our lambs are pasture raised and predominately grass fed and finished. In very hot or dry weather our younger lambs are sometimes supplemented with some grain out in the paddocks to supply them with sufficient protein to maintain their health. Please contact us with a specific request if you require lamb that is 100% grass finished. Aside from lamb we also regularly offer aged lamb (hogget) and mutton. Hoggets are sheep with two permanent teeth (yes sheep have baby teeth too!) and are approximately one to three years old which is a little older than the traditional age of lamb. Hogget is well known for its richer, deeper flavour and beautiful tender meant with good fat distribution. Mutton is older sheep and preferred by those who like a very flavourful meat. Mutton is generally tougher than lamb or hogget and is often best slow cooked. With the correct cooking methods mutton can be superior to lamb and is a very economical option at $10 per kg.

Meat is processed regularly with orders taken for next available processing date or for preferred collection date if order is placed ahead of required time. Please submit your order forms with your preferences and we will do our best to fulfil them. Because we are farmers and do not have a butchery shop, we are not able to supply individual cuts of meat. We do however supply sausages and mince by the kg, either with or without organ meat (liver, kidney and heart).
We provide our prices as per dressed weight. The dressed weight is the carcass weight after the animal is slaughtered and includes all the meat, fat and bones. The final meat weight will be less than the dressed weight. Our prices per kg are listed on the orders forms. Some special cuts and selections such as bones out roasts and sausages incur an extra cost due to processing costs. These additional costs will be listed on your order form. Approximate price of your order will be indicated, however the final price is somewhat variable due to the variability in animal size. Once order forms are submitted and a deposit paid your order will be secured and processed. A final invoice with the remaining balance will be issued once the dressed weight of your order is confirmed.
All final payments are to be received prior to collection of meat.
Meat is only available for collection from Balhannah in the Adelaide Hills on specified days. No delivery available.
